THE PIONEERS OF HAND TOOL ERGONOMICS
The First Scientific Approach to Tool Design
A recent survey of professional tool users confirmed what our designers have known for decades: comfort and ease of operation are a tool’s two most important characteristics. That’s why, back in the early 1980s, Bahco became one of the fi rst toolmakers in the world to institute a scientific approach to designing truly ergonomic tools. The Bahco 11-Point Ergonomic Design Program starts with research into end users, their tasks, and the limitations of the tools they currently use. Based on this research, a specifi c product development process begins. The first prototype is developed with input from leading consultants in areas that range from biomechanics to industrial design and materials technologies. Each prototype must undergo three rounds of field testing with professional users, whose input guides further refinements. Only then is the tool design finalized and put into production.

The Result: A Safer, More Comfortable, More Productive Tool
Tools that emerge from the 11-Point Program have won prestigious international industrial design awards. But more importantly, these truly ergonomic tools make life a lot easier for the professionals who use them. Thanks to their greater comfort and ease of use, these tools reduce fatigue, cramping, and injuries like blisters. They are also designed specifically to minimize skeletal and neuromuscular strains, to help prevent long-term repetitive motion injuries. A more comfortable tool is a more productive tool. Our ergonomic tools put greater control, power and precision into your hands. So you not only work faster, you work better.
